Lake Okeechobee is located in south-central
Florida. It is 750 square miles of bass fishing heaven and the
second largest freshwater lake in the Untied States. The average
depth of the lake is around 3 feet, with maybe 12 feet in the center
of the lake. It is shaped like a huge saucer and surrounded with
vegetation. This provides a great bass factory each year with
millions of bass making their way to the grass beds to spawn. There
are tremendous amounts of wildlife in the lake. Alligators, wading
birds, raccoons, otters, manatees, and even a few deer, live and
thrive here. Each fall the duck hunting is marvelous on the lake.
Being on the water and watching a Florida sunrise over lake
Okeechobee will leave memories for a lifetime.
The best time of the year for Lake Okeechobee bass fishing is the
months of November through April when seeking a real trophy, though
the rest of the year can provide plenty of fast action and great
bass fishing.
